Tom Suozzi Will Run Against George Santos In Bid For Former Seat
The "absurdity" of George Santos in Congress must end, said the former representative for Long Island and Queens.
QUEENS, NY — Tom Suozzi wants his old House seat back.
Suozzi, a Democrat, announced Tuesday that he'll file to run for Congress.
His social media announcement made clear that he plans to regain the District 3 seat — which covers parts of Long Island and Queens — that he vacated to unsuccessfully run for governor.

The decision created an opening for Republican Rep. George Santos, who won the seat in 2022 but quickly found himself dogged by accusations he's a serial liar and criminal fraudster.
"The madness in Washington, DC, and the absurdity of George Santos remaining in the United States Congress is obvious to everyone," Suozzi said in a statement.

Santos brushed off the new challenge from Suozzi, one of many he faces as his legal issues mount and credibility remains, charitably, low-to-nonexistent.
"He won't clear his primary," Santos told Talking Points Memo, the site reported.
"I need your support. Together we can bring some sanity and reason back to Washington."
