1 Airlifted After Jamesport Crash: Police
The other driver sustained non-life threatening injuries, police say.
JAMESPORT, NY — One man was airlifted and another was injured after a two-car crash in Jamesport Sunday, police said.
According to Rivehead Town police, the crash took place at about 5:55 p.m. in the area of Herricks Lane and Main Road.
Recep Zaim, 57, of Mattituck, was driving westbound on Route 25 in a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse when he collided with a 2003 Ford F-350 operated by David Reister, 24, of Southold, who was traveling eastbound on Route 25, police said.

Zaim had numerous injuries and was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital by a Suffolk County Police aviation unit, police said. Reister was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps and treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department's detective division and the New York State Police Department's forensic investigation unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, police said.

No criminality is suspected in the case at this time; however, the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
