2025 Northwell Health Walk at East End Attracts Nearly 400 Registrants and Raises Over $170,000

Community driven event raises critical funds for the Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants and Breast Health at PBMC

Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) recently welcomed more than 385 registrants to RGNY Vineyard for the 2025 Northwell Health Walk at East End, coming together to raise over $170,000 for the Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants. Proceeds from the event will also go toward the advancement of breast health services at the hospital. The walk served as both a celebration of community and a powerful show of support for expanding access to quality maternal and neonatal care on the East End.

“This community never ceases to amaze us,” said Amy Loeb, EdD, MBA, RN, PBMC president. “When we say this hospital is powered by its community, we mean it. Every step taken today helps us get closer to ensuring every woman and newborn has the care they need, right here at home.”

Proceeds from this year’s event will directly benefit the Emilie Roy Corey Center, a planned women’s health facility that aims to bring a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), modern delivery rooms and expanded postnatal care services to Suffolk County’s East End, pending approvals. The new women’s health facility will also augment breast health services in the region by providing a space for the significant investments PBMC has made in mammography technology, surgical capabilities and survivorship support and education. According to the American Cancer Society’s recent 2024-2025 report, approximately one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime and an estimated 310,720 new invasive breast cancers will be diagnosed among women in 2024. Despite the high and consistently increasing number of diagnoses, there is a 99 percent five-year survival rate when breast cancer is detected early in the localized stage.

The Emilie Roy Corey Center is a key piece of PBMC’s continued investment in expanding access to specialized care across Eastern Long Island. In recent years, PBMC has opened the Poole Family Trauma and Emergency Center, announced expansion plans for the Harnisch Family Neurosciences Center to offer advanced stroke care, a digestive health center to advance GI care and several other new programs all guided by the same goal of delivering high-quality care close to home.

“This event reminds us that we’re not building this hospital alone,” said Dr. Julie Gonzalez, MD, Chair - Obstetrics & Gynecology at Peconic Bay Medical Center. “Expanding women’s health in this region is essential, and we’re thrilled that so many in this community share our collective vision to support those in need. The people walking beside us today, patients, families, staff and neighbors, they’re part of this mission too. Their support is the reason we are able to grow.”

In addition to the 1.5-mile walk through the scenic vineyard grounds, attendees enjoyed music, food trucks, face painting and family-friendly activities throughout the morning. Many walked in honor of loved ones or as grateful patients themselves, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and shared purpose that emphasized the hospital’s deep roots in the community.

The Northwell Health Walk is an annual event conducted at the East End, Jones Beach, Port Jefferson, Staten Island and Westchester to raise money for Northwell Health hospital services.
