9/11 Services In Riverhead To Honor Lives Lost In Terrorist Attacks
Both a prayer service and a candlelight remembrance service will be held in Riverhead Thursday to mark 9/11.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A prayer ceremony and a candlelight remembrance service will be held in Riverhead Thursday to honor the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
First, the Town of Riverhead will host a prayer ceremony, led by Riverhead Town Clerk Jim Wooten; the event will take place at 10 a.m. at the Riverhead World Trade Center Memorial Park, located at the corner of Riley and Edwards Avenues in Calverton.
Next, that evening, the Sound Park Heights Civic Association will host a Candlelight Walk and Remembrance.

A procession will begin at 6 p.m. from Marine Street in Reeves Park and proceed to the 9/11 Memorial Park on Sound Avenue and Lt. Thomas Kelly Memorial Road (Park Road).
"All community members are encouraged to attend in memory of the victims and in honor of all affected first responders and service members," town officials said.
