Don't Miss: Dancing With The Dogs By The River
As Denise Lucas and town leaders work toward opening a dog park at Stotzky Park, Riverhead Move the Animal Shelter is holding a fundraiser in June.

As Denise Lucas continues her mission to move the animal shelter, preparations are in the works for a mid-June fundraiser coming on the heels of last month's sold out spaghetti dinner.
"Dancing With the Dogs" on the Peconic Riverfront is taking place June 2 from noon to 5 p.m. While it might seem early to mark in your calendar, for vendors - which Lucas is seeking right now - now's the time.
Proceeds will go to benefit the move of the current shelter on Youngs Avenue - now run by North Fork Animal Welfare League - to the Henry Pfeifer Community Center on Grumman Boulevard. Since Lucas started raising funds about a year and a half ago, she has helped fund and organize the opening of the town's first dog park in Calverton, and is aiming to open another one at Stotzky Park before the end of the month.
Booths for June's event run $50 for a 10-foot by 20-foot space. For $65, a 10'x30' space is available.
Lucas called the event "a big yard sale," and welcomed anyone from food vendors to people cleaning out the house to book a booth. Event sponsorships are also available for $100. Payments must be received by May 19, she said, so proceeds can be used for insurance and advertisement.
At the event itself, local acts Boot Scoot Boogie and Lola will be playing live music. There is no cost of admission.
