LI Man Forced Minor Girl To Watch Porn, Perform Sexual Acts: PD

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested Tuesday after making a minor girl watch pornography and perform sexual acts, police said.

On December 13, the New York State Police Department's Bureau of Criminal Investigation received a child abuse referral initiated by a minor's doctor, officials said.

The doctor stated that they were performing a routine annual physical on a female minor when she disclosed to the doctor that she had been sexually abused by an adult man, police said.

That adult man, a "family friend," was later identified as Edgar Nova Lopez, 29, police said.

An investigation by the New York State Police Department's Bureau of Criminal Investigation determined that over the course of a four-month period, Nova Lopez would make the girl "watch pornography and perform the pornography that they watched," police said.

He also "touched the minor in inappropriate places along with having the minor perform sexual acts," police said.

On Tuesday, New York State police arrested Nova Lopez and charged him with first-degree sexual conduct, a B felony, and first-degree sex abuse, a D felony, police said.

Nova Lopez was arraigned at Riverhead Town Justice Court. Bail was set at $150,000 cash, $300,000 partially secured bond, or $800,000 fully secured bond, officials said. He was then remanded to the Yaphank Correctional Facility until his next court date on Friday at 9 a.m., police said.
