Mattituck Senior Wows Crowd, Scores 1,000th Career Point
He joins only two others who have achieved the milestone, the district says.
MATTITUCK, NY — A star Mattituck High School basketball player made history when he scored his 1,000th career point during a home court game against the Greenport Porters, the Mattituck-Cutchogue School District said.
Luke Woods needed 38 points coming into the game to hit the milestone; late in the fourth quarter, Luke hit a mid-range jumper to go from 37 points to 39 points in the game reaching the career 1,000th point achievement, the district said.
Luke Woods joins Xavier Allen, Don Wilenski and Tom Gwydir as Mattituck's 1,000-point scorers for boys basketball; Bonnie McDonald, Stephanie Pisicano and Liz Dwryer have also reached that shining achievement in girls basketball, Mattituck's Director of Healthy, Physical Education, and Atheltics Greggory Wormuth said.
