Memorial Day 2025: How To Pay Tribute In Riverhead

Here's where Memorial Day parades and services will take place in Riverhead on Memorial Day Monday.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Across Long Island, residents and visitors alike will pay tribute to the fallen on Memorial Day Monday.

In Riverhead, here's a look at where services will be held:

CALVERTON

According to Calverton National Cemetery, to commemorate Memorial Day 2025, the Avenue of Flags will be displayed across Calverton National Cemetery to honor veterans for their service and sacrifice. The Avenue of Flags will remain on display alongside roadways throughout the entire cemetery from Memorial Day weekend until June 8.

This year’s gravesite flag decoration will take place on Saturday, May 24 beginning at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine. Flag placement will be accomplished by pre-registered Scout Units, Veteran Service Organizations, and volunteers. A brief (optional) ceremony to thank volunteers will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., weather permitting. Pickup will occur May 31, weather dependent. The Calverton National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 26 at 1 p.m. in the assembly area at the end of Princeton Boulevard. Congressman Nicholas LaLota will deliver the keynote speech.

RIVERHEAD

The annual Riverhead Combined Veterans Association Memorial Day Parade takes place Monday, beginning at 9 a.m. The parade steps off from Osborn Avenue and Pulaski Street, headin to the World War I Monument on Court and West Main Street. Next, it wends its way east to St. John's Cemetery, to the Civil War Monument in Riverhead Cemetery and then, to the World War II Monument at the Pulaski Street School.
