RIVERHEAD, NY — Riverhead residents will be hitting the polls soon to elect local representatives.
The race is on leading up to Election Day, which, this year, falls on Tuesday, November 7. Patch asked those running for office to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles in the days leading up to the election.
Dana Brown, a Republican, is running an uncontested race to retain one of two open town assessor seats along with Republican candidate Meredith Lipinksy.

What is your occupation?
I have been with the assessors' office since 2013 where I started as an assessment clerk. In 2015, I was promoted to senior assessment clerk. In April of 2021, I was appointed to fill a vacancy for assessor and elected that November.

I have a daughter who is 22.

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
I love all of the different aspects of my job. From helping taxpayers navigate the exemption process to promoting assessment equity through deed transfers and sales, to doing field work. Every day is a different adventure and I learn something new each day.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
My experience with the office for the past 10 years.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Take the chance.
