Riverhead Business Burglarized Early Monday Morning: PD
Office equipment was damaged, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A Mastic man was arrested after burglarizing a Riverhead business early Monday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town police, at 3:27 a.m., a commercial alarm activation was reported at La Sala CPA on West Main Street. When police arrived, they found that the door had been forced open, authorities said. While searching the premises, officers found Jan Carlos Vargas, 36, inside the building, police said.
The owner of the business arrived and reported a large amount of damage to office equipment, police said.

Vargas was arrested and charged with one count of third-degree burglary, a felony, and one count of second-degree criminal mischief; he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
