  1. A third-prize winning ticket worth $50,000 in the April 2, Powerball drawing was purchased at the Riverhead ShopRite supermarket. An estimated figure of $231 million is the jackpot for the April 4, drawing. (Riverhead Patch)
  2. Earth Day is an annual event to demonstrate support for environmental protection. On Saturday, April 23 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. the Town of Riverhead Litter Committee is hosting a clean up event. Volunteers will be given supplies that can be picked up from Riverhead Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. To register yourself or a team, email deborahjwetzel@gmail.com. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  3. On Sunday, May 29, from noon to 5 p.m., the Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival, hosted by East End Arts, will take place on Memorial Day weekend. Chalk artists can purchase an artist’s square online for $20 by May 28 or at the festival for $25.   4. On Friday afternoon, two brothers left Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch on Middle Road in Riverhead. Martin Sorto, 17, and Ivan Sorto, 15, are sought by police. Anyone with information in regard to the whereabouts of the missing children is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  5. A harbor seal was found in the Riverside traffic circle Sunday, police said. According to Southampton Town Police, at 6:31 a.m., dispatchers received a 911 call about the seal, seen off Woodhull Road in the Thrifty Beverage parking lot. Patrol officers responded and the seal fled southwest in the direction of the Budget Host Inn, police said. (Patch)
