Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

  1. Riverhead area pets up for adoption: Dixie, Zeus, Ginger and more. These lovely pets are looking for you to give them a furrever home. Or you may consider fostering. Either way, you will be welcoming unconditional love into your heart and home. (Riverhead Patch)
  2. Who's hiring in the Riverhead area? There are many high paying jobs listed, even if you are looking for part-time work. Each week, Patch and ZipRecruiter feature the latest local jobs added in the area. (Riverhead Patch)
  3. The Heart of Riverhead Civic Association is a new civic group focused on downtown Riverhead neighborhood issues. There area of concern is the Peconic River north to Route 58, between Mill Road and Route 105. The association will meet May 14 at 11 a.m. at the Riverhead Free Library. Most meetings are open to all, but only residents can vote. Annual membership dues will be $25 for residents, $50 for businesses and $25 for friends outside the district. (Subscription: Newsday)
  4. Digging into history, especially local history, can uncover some amazing information.
