Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:
- On Thursday, at around 6:44 p.m., Gregory M. Trent, a 24-year-old Riverhead man, was arrested after he was found asleep at the wheel of his car, impeding traffic on Main Road in front of the East End Food Market near County Route 105, police said. Police determined that Trent was under the influence of drugs and was in criminal possession of a loaded handgun and a quantity of cannabis. (Riverhead Patch)
- A seal pup who captured hearts after he was found near the Riverside traffic circle Sunday was released at Tiana Beach in Hampton Bays Friday. The seal made its way to the water, then, as the crowd that had gathered watched, turned as if to say a last good-bye to his rescuers before plunging into the surf toward his natural habitat. Watch the video here. (Patch)
- Temple Adas Israel in Sag Harbor announced this week that they raised $36,000 in support of Ukraine. The temple's initial goal was to reach $18K which is significant in that it means “Life” in Hebrew. Residents stepped up and donated double the goal amount. (Dan's Papers)
