Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:
- According to Riverhead Police, a call came in at 1 a.m. regarding a commercial burglary at Country Rotisserie, located on Old Country Road. "Officers arrived and found that the front door glass was broken and entry had been made into the establishment, police said. An undetermined amount of cash was removed from the business, police said." Contact the Riverhead Town Police at 631-727-4500 with information. All calls will be kept confidential. (Riverhead Patch)
- Police are searching for whoever burglarized a Calverton store early Wednesday.
According to Riverhead Town Police, at 6:05 a.m., a report came in about a commercial burglary at Wine Country Deli on Middle Road. When officers arrived, it was determined that someone had entered the shop and removed an undetermined amount of cash, police said. The burglary was the second reported in Riverhead Town Wednesday: Earlier in the day, a burglary was reported at Country Rotisserie on Old Country Door, where someone has smashed the glass front door, police said.(Riverhead Patch) - Glenn Seejattan, a Wheatley Heights man was charged with the murder of a Centereach man, Justin Lee, 34, who was found dead in a wooded area in Rocky Point earlier this year. Lee's body was found on Jan. 28, just west of Brookhaven Drive, near the North Shore Rail Trail. (Patch)
- The Northport VA could close its emergency room, shift medical and surgical services to local hospitals and move its residential rehabilitation program to Queens under a new proposal. Only inpatient mental health, residential nursing home care and rehabilitation medicine would remain in Northport. (Subscription: Newsday)
