  1. As a society, we need to support journalism and communication so that we are informed, not blind-sided by events like COVID-19. For the past year, that is what the Stony Brook School of Communication and Journalism students have done, reporting on the staggering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, all the while being affected themselves in their daily lives.   2. Mark your calendars! On the evening of April 17 through May 7, the Riverhead Water District’s annual flushing of water mains, cleaning the interior of the water distribution pipe, will start. Be sure to check your water before doing any washing, if it is not clear, run the water until it is.   3. A-list Hollywood stars may be spotted soon in Riverhead as plans move forward for a new Netflix movie to film at several locations around town later this month. Netflix began filming "Leave the World Behind" this week on Long Island. According to Variety, Julia Roberts stars in the family drama "Leave the World Behind," based on the Rumaan Alam novel. Opening this Friday, April 8, at the Boots on the Ground Theater at Riverhead’s Vail-Leavitt Music Hall is a new production of “The Agitators,” about the lifelong friendship between Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony. This show is the first production at the Vail-Leavitt Music Hall since the pandemic. Tickets to “The Agitators” are $25, and the show runs April 8 through 16. Shows are Fridays at 7 p.m. Saturdays at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at 3 p.m. You can purchase tickets online here. (East End Beacon)
