Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

  1. Riverhead celebrates Juneteenth! Community organizations and Suffolk Theater will host lots of events over the weekend this year. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  2. In observance of Juneteenth, the Riverhead Town Hall will be closed Monday, officials announced. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  3. Sunday, New York Marine Rescue Center and Atlantic Marine Conservation Society rushed to Brooklyn to save a stranded "pygmy sperm whale, or Kogia breviceps," which is not found in our waters. After several attempts to push the whale out to sea, it was decided that euthanasia was the best course of action for the compromised whale. (Riverhead Patch)
  4. The first ever Strawberry Festival Talent Show was a smash hit. The talent ranged from contestants ages 7 to 101. The categories for the acts were singing, dancing, instrumental, and comedy. (North Fork Patch)
