- A dedication will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 5 p.m. for a beloved kindergarten teacher, Keri Lynn Stromski, who made headlines around the world in March 2021 when one of her virtually taught students made a a "hug machine" so that his favorite teacher could hug again. The new Keri Lynn Stromski Memorial Playground at Iron Pier Beach will honor the Aquebogue Elementary School kindergarten teacher who died in 2021 after a fierce battle with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer at the age of 48. - Supervisor Yvette Aguiar, along with Councilman Bob Kern, presented a certificate of appreciation to Executive Director Tracey Smith of Advanced Orthopedics for its newly renovated facility in Riverhead. The facility has expanded to include a large number of exam and equipment rooms, including a physical therapy room with updated equipment. (Subscription: Riverhead News Review)
- Officials from The Town of Riverhead and Suffolk County Water Authority said in a news release Tuesday that they are "optimistic" that they can work together in bringing safe drinking water to the 64 homes in the town’s section of Manorville whose private wells have been found to contain toxins. - Supermoon alert! Sunday and Monday the first of two total lunar eclipses will be visible to New York residents, it will turn May's full flower moon blood red. According to NASA, the partial eclipse starts at 10:28 p.m. EDT. The moon's face will gradually get darker until fully covered at 12:11 a.m. Monday. The total eclipse will last about 1 hour and 25 minutes, ending at 1:55 a.m. (Patch)
