- The Human Rights Campaign Foundation named Stony Brook University Hospital “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leaders” for 2022. Stony Brook University Hospital has received a prestigious designation — named a national leader in LGBTQ+ healthcare equality.
All Stony Brook Medicine hospitals were included in the honor, including Stony Brook Children's Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital; all were named "LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leaders" for 2022 in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 15th anniversary edition of the Healthcare Equality Index. Smith, a Stony Brook resident and long-time supporter of local artists." “She felt women artists faced greater obstacles to success than men and had to work harder to achieve recognition.
