Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

1. Pet adoption in the Riverhead area. New dogs and cats have been added this week. Meet Smudge, an American shorthair mix up for adoption. If you are not looking to adopt at the moment, perhaps you would consider fostering a pet. (Riverhead Patch)

3. On Thursday, April 14, around 8 a.m., Shareem Giles, age 51, and Saquan Blount, age 23, both of Riverhead, were arrested after police responded to a call for an alleged burglary in progress. Both men attempted to flee once the police arrived, said Riverhead Police. (Daily Voice)
4. Juan ZurdoHernandez, 40, a Flanders man, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI and numerous traffic infractions, police said. The incident took place at 8:03 p.m. on Easter on Flanders Road in Flanders, according to Southampton Town Police. (Patch)
