Here are the top stories today in Riverhead:

  1. Saturday was national day of action in protest of the potential imminent demise of Roe vs. Wade. In Riverhead, the demonstration was held outside the State Supreme Courthouse on Griffing Avenue, it was one of more than 380 rallies that took place in cities and towns across the U.S. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  2. A Lake Ronkonkoma woman, Johanna Iovino, 30, appeared in court Sunday where she was "arraigned on two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death," according to Suffolk County police. Ryan Walker, age 37, was killed and Robert Kehlenbeck, age 46, died Saturday. The incident took place in Holtsville last week. (Daily Voice)
  3. Both Nassau and Suffolk counties has recently been classified as high-risk communities for COVID transmission. Health officials are now recommending Long Islanders wear masks indoors again. The CDC mask recommendation is not mandatory, but encouraged. (News 12 Long Island)
