Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

  1. Late last year an unauthorized individual "gained access to approximately 422 files/folders of the Riverhead Central School District," superintendent Dr. Augustine Tornatore sent in a letter to parents and staff members potentially affected. Some personal information that was potentially exposed may have included a child’s name, parent or other family member names, addresses and date of birth. Tornatore said, "the district is not aware of any fraud related to the data breach at this time." He encouraged parents to remain vigilant, to monitor their child’s accounts and immediately report any suspicious activity or misuse of their child’s personal information. (Riverhead News Review)
  2. For the first time in four months, the Cotter family were all together. "It was the sweetest of reunions recently as a Wading River couple, whose first baby, Ruby June, received a miracle heart transplant for Christmas two years ago, and whose second child Everett, is also waiting for his life-saving new heart," Patch wrote. Let us all hope for a happy ending for the Cotter family. (Riverhead Patch)
  3. A Calverton man who prosecutors said was driving drunk on the January evening he ran a stop sign on Route 48 in Mattituck and caused a crash that injured another driver was arraigned Tuesday on upgraded charges, including a top count of first-degree aggravated vehicular assault. (Subscription: Suffolk Times)
  4. According to Southampton Town Police, "on Tuesday afternoon, Wuilmer Barrios, a tractor trailer driver, was arrested after a crash involving six vehicles in the westbound lane of County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Road in Southampton," police said. He was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. (Patch)
