Here are the top stories today in Riverhead:

  1. Riverhead Central School District voters Tuesday approved the district's $169.7 million operating budget for the upcoming school year and re-elected incumbent trustees Laurie Downs and Matthew Wallace, who beat back a challenge by newcomer Andrew Nadeau. (Riverhead Patch)
  2. On Monday, Riverhead Charter School’s charter has been renewed for a full five-year term by the New York State Board of Regents and will allow the school to teach grades 11 and 12, and increase its maximum enrollment from 850 to 1244 students is the biggest expansion in the school’s 21-year history. The school will start offering 11th grade this coming year and 12th grade next year. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  3. On Sunday, May 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corp is celebrating EMS Week with an open house at its Osborn Avenue headquarters. Bring the family to tour ambulances, learn about equipment used, included AEDs, and receive training in hands-only CPR. (RiverheadLOCAL)
