Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

  1. Police are still searching for the thief who broke into the Country Rotisserie restaurant, located at 1528 Old Country Road, in Riverhead. The incident took place around 1 a.m., Wednesday, March 23. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Riverhead Town Police at 631-727-4500. (Daily Voice)
  2. The Riverhead Town Board approved the plan for redevelopment of the Enterprise Park at Calverton (EPCAL) that has many EPCAL-watchers squeamish. According to the East End Beacon, "A resolution was approved March 24, the town’s Community Development Agency plans to transfer title to 2,100 acres at EPCAL, including 500 acres that are being used for public purposes, to the town’s Industrial Development Agency, and then lease the 1,643 acres to CAT and the 500 acres back to the CDA."   3. Northwell Health, Peconic Bay Medical Center has lowered the minimum age to start colorectal cancer screening from 50 to 45 years old. “Colorectal cancer is traditionally one of the deadliest forms of cancer, but it is treatable and beatable if caught during the early stages before it spreads, said Dr. Brett E. Ruffo, colorectal surgeon. (TBR News Media)
  4. Riverhead Community Awareness Program Inc. was awarded a 5-year, $ 625,000 federal grant from The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The grant will be used to help train individuals and organizations in the town and surrounding East End communities on how to identify and understand signs of mental illness and substance abuse among youth and adults.   5. The $8.4 million project to centralize all ground transportation at Long Island MacArthur Airport has been completed. "Rental cars, taxi stands, buses, ride-hailing services, hotel courtesy shuttles and Long Island Rail Road Station transportation will all be in the same hub beginning April 6," according to Newsday.
