Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:
- The Town of Riverhead cited code violations and issued a stop-work order to Niosi Firearms. The Town charged the company with occupying Elton Street building and using the premises without permits. (RiverheadLOCAL)
- A Riverhead man pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree manslaughter after crashing into a Flanders home in December and killing his passenger, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said. Santiago Monzon-Archila, 40, had nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time of the crash, Tierney said. Monzon-Archila also pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. (Patch)
- Did you ever want to preserve all the wonderful fruits and vegetables available at harvest time? A Taste of Hallockville is a workshop that teaches “historic food preservation systems that will engage participants in a hands-on class to learn the basics of home canning.” The class is $50 per person for Hallockville Museum Farm members and $65 for nonmembers.
