Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:
- Jason Melenciano, 40, of Riverhead, was charged with one count of second-degree assault after a physical altercation on West Main Street in Riverhead. According to Riverhead Town Police, at 9:18 p.m. a call came in about the dispute involving residents of a West Main Street home. One man, 39, sustained a laceration to his arm, police said. He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and released. (Riverhead Patch)
- Drag Racing Green Lighted For New Season In Riverhead (Riverhead Patch) Rev your engines, it's a go: The Riverhead Town board voted Wednesday to approve dates for drag racing this season at Enterprise Park at Calverton.
- In celebration of Black History Month: Get ready for a spectacular evening featuring the New York City-based dance company, Complexions Contemporary Ballet as they perform two new full-length pieces on the same program for the very first time. “Woke” and “Love Rocks” will be performed in one full-length evening program on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. at Staller Center, in Stony Brook. - Mark your calendars! The "13th Annual Denim & Diamonds Golf & Gala" is slated to take place on Monday, June 13 at the Westhampton Country Club, located at 35 Potunk Lane. The event kicks off with a brunch at 10:30 a.m., followed by golf, a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., and dinner, dancing and awards beginning at 7 p.m. Purchase tickets here. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise funds for a pool for aqua therapy which will benefit many patients as well as caregivers at New Beginnings and the Brendan House. To build the pool, $100,000 is needed. Currently, architectural plans and permits are in place. (Patch)
