Riverhead Student Heard Voicing 'Non-Specific Threat': Interim Supe

"This serves as a reminder for parents and guardians to discuss with their children the consequences of making threatening statements."

RIVERHEAD, NY —A Riverhead middle school student was heard "voicing a non-specific threat" Friday, according to Cheryl Pedisich, interim superintendent of the Riverhead Central School District, in a letter to the Blue Waves community.

"Administration was immediately informed and the Riverhead Town Police were notified," Pedisich said. "Following an investigation by law enforcement, it was determined there was no credible threat and at no time were any students or district staff in harm’s way."

She added that the student and the student’s parents had been spoken with, and that the student would be disciplined in accordance with the district’s student code of conduct.
