Search On For LI Man Who May Be Suicidal: Police

WADING RIVER, NY — Police are searching for a man, 25, missing from Wading River and who, they said, may be suicidal.

According to Riverhead Town police, Joseph Poveromo is white, 5-feet, 7-inches tall and 150 lbs. with a fair complexion, hazel eyes, and a short brown buzz cut; he was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and a gray light hooded shirt.

He left his family's Dogwood Lane residence on Saturday at about 12 a.m. in his vehicle, a tan 1997 Nissan Maxima, NY registration LSR1399, police said. His destination is unknown, but he is known to frequent the Wading River, Calverton, Riverhead and Mastic Beach areas, police said.

He has been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, ADHD, and post-concussion syndrome — and is possibly suicidal at this time, police said.
