The Port Chester man targeted the cop, who he knew, firing 13 rounds and striking the NYPD officer once.

YONKERS, NY — A Port Chester man has been sentenced for trying to kill an off-duty NYPD officer in Yonkers, using a 9mm pistol to fire 13 rounds at the cop, who was sitting in a car, striking him once.
Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced on Friday that 31-year-old Bryan Martinez, of Port Chester, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to murder an off-duty NYPD officer in November of 2023.
Martinez was sentenced on Thursday by Westchester County Court Judge George Fufidio, Jr., who also ordered him to undergo five years of post-release supervision and provided an order of protection for the victim.

"An attempted murder, committed in broad daylight, nearly claimed the life of an NYPD officer," Cacace said. "This brazen violence also endangered the lives of one or more passersby, who had no involvement in this dispute. My office will always take swift action to protect the public against this kind of violent conduct. I am thankful that the officer survived this assault and has largely recovered from his physical injuries."

On Nov. 14, 2023, Martinez stalked and followed the victim's car over a personal grievance. At a traffic light in Yonkers, Martinez shot his 9 mm pistol past another car that was located between himself and the victim. One of the bullets hit the victim in the arm.
The victim then drove himself to St. John's Hospital in Yonkers for treatment.
In September, Martinez pleaded guilty to second degree attempted murder.
The massive investigation involved dozens of jurisdictions, including the Yonkers Police Department, the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, the Westchester County Real-Time Crime Center, the Port Chester Police Department, and the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force.
