Dobbs Ferry's Springhurst Elementary School is elevating its assistant principal, Lisa Doty, to acting principal as Julia Drake heads out on maternity leave.
Superintendent Dr. Lisa Brady made the announcement via a community memo this week after the Board of Education approved the move May 23.
"Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this position and will provide a seamless experience during Julia’s leave," Brady wrote. "To help shoulder all of the summer and early fall responsibilities regularly assigned to Lisa Doty, Vinny Garafolo, our Springhurst Physical Education teacher, has been appointed as a Teacher on Assignment. Vinny will be supporting Lisa with her regular responsibilities while she is assuming the responsibilities of the Springhurst Principal."
According to Brady, Drake is expecting her second child at the end of June.
"I am confident that Lisa Doty and Vinny Garafolo will provide the guidance, stewardship and stability important to our students and families," Brady wrote.
