Dobbs Ferry PD Investigates 2 Burglaries on Fairlawn

In one case, two Apple computers, a $17,000 rug and apothecary chest are reported missing.

The Dobbs Ferry Police Department was recently called to the scene of two alleged burglaries on Fairlawn Avenue.

The first complaint was received the afternoon of June 11 from a homeowner who stated he was away for less than 90 minutes.

He told police he left home between 11:15 a.m. and 12:40 p.m., only to return to find the screen door on the south side of his home had been cut and the bottom window portion had been broken and remained ajar.

Police checked the interior of the home and the homeowner stated nothing appeared to be missing. The cost to replace the door's window is $100 and the screen's replacement is expected to cost the owner an additional $50.

Just before midnight on June 14, the Police Department was notified by another Fairlawn Avenue resident that the rear door to his home had been disturbed.

According to the homeowner, he had been away from 12 to 11:55 p.m. that day, and noticed the door appeared kicked in and its frame was broken when he returned. The door was valued at approximately $500.

Police photographed the scene that night and the man told officers nothing appeared to be missing.

The next day, the homeowner told police he had noticed several items were gone from the residence—a silk rug valued at $17,000, a $7,900 apothecary chest, an Apple Macbook Air computer valued at $1,326 and an Apple Macbook Pro laptop valued at $1,234.

Police said it is possible the two incidents are related and the investigations continue.
