Fatal Train Strike At Hastings-On-Hudson Station

Officials said the person was standing on the platform and was struck by the side of a northbound train.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — A person was killed when hit by a Metro-North train Thursday night.

According to a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesperson, a person who was standing on the platform at the Hastings station was struck by the side of a Croton-Harmon bound train as it approached the station shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

MTA police, Metro-North Railroad and emergency services responded to the scene.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene. No information about the person was released by the MTA.

Officials said the 10:20 p.m. train, which was traveling from Grand Central Terminal to Croton-Harmon, was taken out of service. Customers on the train were accommodated by the 10:54 p.m. train from Grand Central to Croton-Harmon.
