Frank's Nursery in Greenburgh up for Auction

The Greenburgh Town Board recently decided to schedule an auction for the long vacant lot formerly known as Frank’s Nursery on Dobbs Ferry Road.

The auction is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3rd at 10 a.m.

  • Minimum bid will be $3.5 million dollars with no conditions.
  • One-hundred percent of the payment is due at the closing date.
  • Cleanup of the property to be paid for by the purchaser.
  • No tax breaks.

The board plans to issue a comprehensive plan to the public this fall so potential purchasers will know what's possible here.

Writes Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, “I continue to believe that the town should rezone properties on Dobbs Ferry Road to allow for recreation uses. Creating a recreation zone on Dobbs Ferry Road will also enhance the chances of helping the Golf Range stay in business. Other potential uses: single family homes.”

The lot was previously put up for bid and of the three proposals received, Feiner most liked the idea from Tarrytown-based Game On to lease the space for a sports dome. However, the community outcry was fierce. Read more on this here.

In July 2012, Feiner said, "The Town Board determined that selling the land at this time was not in the interests of the town," Feiner said. "We may want to use the property, which is on prime piece of land (near the Sprain Parkway and off of Dobbs Ferry Road) for a town purpose some time in the future. And, property values at this point in time are at a low – because of the recession. We probably could sell the land for much more money sometime in the future."
