YONKERS, NY — Police made a "coldblooded" discovery when making an unrelated arrest at a Westchester home.

Two exotic reptiles were discovered by Yonkers Police Department officers on Dec. 10. YPD contacted New York State Environmental Conservation police, and the environmental conservation officers issued tickets to the resident for illegally possessing reptiles without the required permits.

The animals, a juvenile crocodile and dwarf caiman, were placed in a properly licensed facility, according to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.

"The two little crocodilians confiscated in Yonkers came today," Mark Perpetua, of Mark Perpetua's Reptile Encounters, wrote in a Dec. 16 post on social media. "They both look healthy although the croc has a few marks and is missing half its tail."
