Hastings Closes All School Buildings, Facilities At End Of Day

District officials said there were poor air quality conditions inside and outside its facilities because of the wildfires in Canada.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — Due to dispersed smoke from the Canadian wildfires, the Hastings-on-Hudson school district will close all school buildings and facilities Wednesday at the end of the regular academic day schedule.

The district is reporting poor air quality outside and inside its facilities.

All staff will leave once their student responsibilities are completed and transportation will be as normally scheduled.

Additionally, all after-school and even activities, including external childcare programs, are canceled.

The district said the community should be alert for an update later Wednesday or early Thursday about Thursday’s school schedule.
