High School Guidance Counselor Accused Of Repeatedly Having Sex With 16-Year-Old Boy: DA

The 43-year-old Yonkers woman is accused of having sex with her student over a yearlong period, sometime at her office in the school.

YONKERS, NY — A Westchester County woman is accused of violating the trust put in her by having a sexual relationship with a teenage student in her office at school, according to prosecutors.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Friday that 43-year-old Wendy Lora, of Yonkers, who worked as a guidance counselor at a Bronx high school, was indicted on charges for repeatedly having sex with a 16-year-old boy who was a student in her school.

She was arraigned on Friday on third-degree rape, third-degree criminal sexual act, two counts of sexual misconduct, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Lora is due back in court on September 30.

"The victim was 16 when the guidance counselor allegedly began having sex with him," Clark said. "She allegedly exploited the teen for nearly a year while being entrusted with the care of students. Anyone who acts in such a disturbing and predatory manner will be prosecuted by our office."

According to the district attorney, from September 2023 to October 2024, Lora engaged in sex with the boy in several locations, including her office at the school.

Allegations of an inappropriate relationship were first reported to school officials on May 7, 2024, while a second report was made on September 20, 2024. On April 21 of this year, the NYPD referred the case to the Bronx DA's Office after the victim's mother reported those allegations.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant DA Rachael Baughman of the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau under the supervision of Johanna Hernandez, Deputy Chief of the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau, Alexandra Militano, Deputy Chief of the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau and Mimi Mairs, Chief of the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau under the overall Chief, Special Victims Division.

Clark thanked Trial Preparation Assistant Supervisor Elaina Clark of the Child Abuse/Sex Crimes Bureau for her work on the case. She also thanked NYPD Detective Yesenia Rengel of the NYPD Bronx Special Victims, Adult Squad for her work in the investigation
