16-Year-Old Shot In Rochester; Police Seek Information

Police were called to Backus Street and Phelps Avenue on Tuesday night after receiving a report of gunshots.

ROCHESTER, NY — Rochester police are seeking information about a Tuesday-night shooting that injured a 16-year-old boy.

Around 9:45 p.m., police were called to Backus Street and Phelps Avenue after receiving a report of gunshots. When officers arrived, they found evidence of shots fired, according to police.

While officers were investigating, a 16-year-old boy was treated at Rochester General Hospital for a gunshot wound to his lower body, police said. Officers later determined the boy was shot near Backus Street.

Currently, no suspects are in custody. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911.
