Board Recap: Board Approves Molloy Parking Deal

Village will lease 100 spots in Field 12 to local college for nine-month span.

The Rockville Centre Village Board approved a nine-month lease for 100 spots in Municipal Parking Field No. 12 to at Monday's village board meeting at a price of $290 per spot.

Parking Field 12 is located on Sunrise Highway between North Forest Avenue and Long Beach Road. The deal will run from Sept. 1 to May 31, 2013.

The deal passed with a 4-1 vote; Trustee Ed Oppenheimer voted against it. Oppenheimer said that Field 12 is "packed with cars" and the village might be better served by installing parking meters or kiosks to generate revenue rather than leasing the spots to Molloy.
