Crime Watch: Man Robs Ocean Avenue Key Food With Note

The following information was supplied by the Rockville Centre Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrest

  • Robert A. Tibbs, 25, of Hempstead, was arrested on Aug. 22 at 5:29 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a police investigation in the vicinity of North Long Beach Road.

  • A 14 year-old boy and a 15 year-old boy was taken into custody on Aug. 20 at 5:22 p.m. for petit larceny of a bicycle following a police investigation in the vicinity of Hempstead Avenue and Dorchester Road. The 15 year old was also cited for resisting arrest.

  • The owner of a Sunrise Highway business reported to police on Aug. 22 at 2:10 p.m. that a man used a counterfeit $100 bill to make a purchase in his store.

Robbery

  • The manager of Key Food, located 399 Ocean Ave., reported to police on Aug. 25 at 8:07 p.m. that he was robbed by an unknown man that passed a note demanding money and threatening the use of a weapon while inside the store. The subject reportedly fled from the scene on foot with proceeds that included the victim’s personal papers, keys and an undisclosed amount of money from the store safe. No injuries were reported.
