Drunken Driver Stopped In Oceanside With Baby In Car: Police
Denis Peraza Martinez faces charges that include endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
OCEANSIDE, NY — A intoxicated man was stopped with a baby in his vehicle, police said.
Denis Peraza Martinez, 38, of Hempstead, was pulled over on Long Beach Road in Oceanside during the overnight hours on Thursday, police said.
Martinez had glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol emanating from his breathe, police said. A field sobriety test was conducted resulting in positive results and he was placed under arrest without incident, authorities said.

No injuries reported at scene.
A 3-month-old girl was safely released into the custody of a family member who was also a passenger in the vehicle, police said.

Martinez is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, endangering the welfare of a child and driving while intoxicated, police said.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
