It's Wednesday, which we all know is the "hump" day of the week. Get through today, and the weekend is around the corner! With that in mind, here are five things you need to know for today.
1. The RVC Democratic Club invites all interested people to an evening with County Legislator Joe Scannell tonight at the from 7:30-9 p.m. Scannell will describe the legislative process before 2009 and how it works today, sorting out the issues that have been making headlines lately and those that haven't. Everyone is welcome.
2. A portion of our special section devoted to moms rolls out today! Check out our Moms Q&A at 1 p.m. and our first Whiz Kid profile that posts at 2 p.m.

3. Join instructor Marianna Farina at the Rockville Centre Public Library for Chi Gong — an ancient Chinese healing art based on meditative movement and breathing techniques. There is a $15 non-refundable fee per six-week session and starts at 10:30 a.m.

5. Take in some culture today by visiting the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library for an exhibition by the LI Center of Photography. The Long Island Center of Photography (LICP) will be showing photographs based on the theme of "community."
