Hispanic Brotherhood to Receive About $20K in Federal Grants
The federal Community Development Block Grant will assist in conducting its after-school tutorial programs.

The Hispanic Brotherhood of Rockville Centre will receive a federal Community Development Block Grant of around $20,000 for its youth-centered initiatives, Town of Hempstead officials said.
According to Margarita Grasing, director of the Hispanic Brotherhood of Rockville Centre, the grant money will go toward its after-school tutoring program. More than 35 kids will get help on their homework, she said, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekdays thanks to the grant. The program is also run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. when school is out, she added.
The Town of Hempstead Town Board voted unanimously to secure the federal funding for the RVC non-profit.

“I am thrilled that we are able to support organizations that offer positive support for the youth of Oceanside and Rockville Centre,” said Supervisor Kate Murray. “I know the communities will benefit from these monies which will finance a host of important services.”
“Both of these organizations do yeoman’s work,” said Senior Town Councilman Anthony Santino. “They are different organizations with a common cause, preserving the innocence of youth, educating children and positively influencing young people and their families.”
