Jan. 14: Free Teen Skating at Hot Skates, Cyclones Hoops Takes on Sewanhaka at SSHS

Friday's here! So what are you planning for the weekend? If you don't have any plans as of yet, let us tell you what's happening in RVC today/tonight, and start your weekend off right.

1. If you haven't done it yet, the RVC Library is hosting its story time registration for kids ages 2-5. Your library card and proof of age for your child are required for first-time registrants, and you can call in to register at 516-766-6257. If you are unsure if you are eligible, please check at the Children’s Reference Desk before the registration date.

  • 2 year olds (with parent or caregiver) = Tot Time
  • 3 & 4 year olds (ready to separate) = On My Own
  • Kindergarteners = Kinder Kids
  • 3-5 year olds = Books Before Bedtime

3. boy's basketball looks to continue its conference dominance and extend its undefeated record tonight at South Side High School at 7:30 p.m. against Sewanhaka. Come down and support the Cyclones!

4. Though Wednesday's snow storm was nothing like the blizzard that hit RVC two weeks ago, local schools were still closed and families spent the day playing in the snow. Did you see Patch's snow day pics?

5. Are your tweens and teens tired of having nowhere to hang out on the weekends? Hot Skates, the skating rink on the border of Lynbrook and RVC on Merrick Road, hosts free skating for kids between 10 and 14 from 7-9:30 p.m tonight.
