Jan. 29/30: Wing-Eating Contest at Champs, CPR Class and Gymnastics Program

Find out what's going on around town this weekend.

It's the weekend, so now that you have off from work, kick back, put your feet up and let us tell you what's on deck for this Saturday and Sunday.

1. Saturday — Sometimes knowing what to do in a time of emergency is the difference between life and death. The is hosting a family CPR class at 10 a.m. The cost is $25 and anyone interested is welcome to attend.

2. Saturday — Support student-athletes by attending the second annual at at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $60 a person, and the fundraiser will have a cocktail hour, full open bar, raffles, dinner, entertainment and a Super Bowl pool. Reservations can be mailed/dropped off at Trina Firestone’s house, 69 Roxen Road.

3. Saturday — If your child loves gymnastics and you're tired of them trying to nail a dismount off the living room couch, head down to the Marion Street School in Lynbrook at 9 a.m. for a gymnastics program for boys and girls ages 6-12. The cost of the program is $75 and runs until 10:30 a.m.

4. Sunday — Love buffalo wings? How many do you think you can eat in 2 minutes and 40 seconds? Painting for Cures is holding its 3rd annual Wing Eating Contest at Champs Sports Bar during halftime of the NFL Pro Bowl. There will be a $5 dollar donation at the door and prizes will be raffled off during the game which include a Nintendo Wii, two NY Islander Tickets, two tickets to the Late Show with David Letterman, just to name a few. Entry fee is $20 and the contest starts around 6 p.m.
