Large Power Outage Hits Rockville Centre

The nor'easter has knocked out cables and caused a blackout in large swaths of the village.

Many homes and businesses in the Village of Rockville Centre are currently dark, and it may be a while before power is restored.

The village notified residents on its website and on Facebook about the outage around 5 p.m. Wednesday. Though the village has its own power plant, it does not supply the village power all of the time. Most of the power still comes from PSEGLI. However, two of the three lines that feed the village power were knocked down during the storm.

The village said it was working on getting the power plant up and running to restore power to residents and businesses, but said it "will take time."
