Longtime RVC Resident, Skiing Magazine Publisher, Dies

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Harry Kaiser grew up in Baldwin and lived with his wife in Rockville Centre and five children.

Kaiser was the longtime publisher of Skiing magazine.

He died on Oct. 23 at age 91, Newsday reported.

Kaiser was inducted into the U.S. Ski-Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2015.

"[His] tireless efforts over almost three decades as a publisher put Skiing magazine at the forefront in providing advice, information and inspiration," the Hall of Fame wrote on its website.

In 2008, Kaiser became a commissioner of beach preservation in Florida.

At the height of his three-decade publishing career, Kaiser's family was often referred to as the "First Family of Skiing."
