Man Fires Shot After Attempting To Flee Nassau Traffic Stop: Police

Antonio Lam faces charges that include reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

ELMONT, NY — A Lynbrook man was arrested after fleeing a traffic stop early Sunday in Elmont, police said.
Antonio Lam, 30, was stopped by police near Carnegie Avenue just before 1 a.m. He was spotted a short time after taking off on foot, authorities said.

Lam resisted arrest, firing a shot from a firearm, but no one was struck, police said.

One officer sustained injuries from Lam violent resisting arrest, police said.

A loaded .40 caliber gun was recovered, police said.

Lam is charged with second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.

He was expected to be arraigned on Monday.
