Nassau Man Faces Kidnapping Charge After Hitting Woman, Barricading In Home: Police
The man struck the woman several times, prevented her from leaving his home, and then hid in a crawlspace with the woman, police say.
ELMONT, NY — A man barricaded himself in his Elmont home after he struck a woman and prevented her from leaving or calling for help on Friday afternoon, Nassau police said.
Officers were called to a Locustwood Boulevard home for a disturbance around 1 p.m., police said. Officers were informed of an argument between a 30-year-old man and a woman, 22, police said.

The man prevented the woman from leaving his home or calling 911, police said. He intentionally struck the woman numerous times and forcibly removed her cellphone from her hands, police said.
The man did not allow officers into the home to investigate, police said. After police tried contacting the man numerous times, he barricaded himself inside the home, with the woman, in a crawlspace, police said. Officers ultimately gained access into the home and safely located the woman and the man, police said.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. The man was placed under arrest and transported to a nearby hospital, police said.
The man was charged with second-degree kidnapping; second-degree assault; third-degree assault; unlawful imprisonment; fourth-degree criminal mischief; and tampering with a witness, police said.
He had been scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday, March 22, at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
Investigators found the man was also responsible for an incident that occurred on March 9 and was also charged with second-degree assault and strangulation, police said.
