Federal Agents Present In Long Beach
The agents were spotted at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, sources say.
LONG BEACH, NY. — Long Beach residents had unexpected visitors Tuesday morning, as city officials confirmed the presence of federal agents within city limits.
One source photographed men they believed to be federal agents outside Long Beach Recreation Center at 8:30 a.m., saying they spotted a man in an armored vest labeled “U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.”
City of Long Beach officials confirmed that federal agents were in Long Beach just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, but declined to comment further on what they were doing, saying that it was related to a federal investigation.

“Can confirm that they were in Long Beach this morning. Outside of that it’s obviously a federal investigation, so you’d have to refer everything else to them,” one representative said.
When asked if the city had been made aware of the federal agents’ presence ahead of time, city officials said they couldn’t comment further.

Sources said they were unaware of anyone being detained by the federal agents just before 10:30 a.m.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday. Patch also attempted to contact the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force regional headquarters in Brooklyn and the field office in Central Islip, with neither office responding.
