Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Member Stopped With Loaded Gun On SSP: Police

LAKEVIEW, NY — A routine patrol on the Southern State Parkway quickly devolved into a bold roadside arrest.

Troopers encountered an armed and visibility affiliated member of an outlaw motorcycle gang, state police said.

During the overnight hours on Saturday, the troopers spotted a disabled motorcycle on the westbound shoulder next Exit 18, state police said.

The driver, later identified as Aaron Morgan, 45, of Queens, was wearing a leather vest displaying Twister MC patches, a known outlaw motorcycle gang, along with a "1%" patch and nunchucks attached to his outside of his vest, state police said.

As officers were speaking to Morgan, he produced a set of metal knuckles from his vest pocket, state police said.

Recognizing the potential danger, troopers placed Morgan under arrest. He attempted to resist, but was taken into custody without injury to troopers or himself, state police said.

A small baggie containing an unidentified white powdery substance was also in Morgan’s possession. While searching the motorcycle, which Morgan said lost power, troopers discovered a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun with 15 rounds inside, state police said.

Morgan was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of resisting arrest and one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Morgan was arraigned at Nassau County Courts on Saturday.
