Police: Man Sold Cocaine in Long Beach

Long Beach man and West Hempstead woman charged after selling cocaine Saturday night, cops said.

A man was caught selling cocaine to a woman in Long Beach Saturday night, according to Nassau County Police.

At 10:55 p.m., David Ortiz, 27, of Long Beach, was caught selling cocaine while parked in a 2009 Mercury on Roosevelt Avenue, cops said. Authorities found bags of cocaine in Ortiz’s shorts and in the car’s passenger side door panel.

Ortiz was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Ortiz’s passenger, Alaina Hannides, 44, of West Hempstead, was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and was issued an appearance ticket, cops said.
